About Me

Jaqi Gendreau, originally from Nashville, Tennessee, and raised in Sparta, New Jersey, began dancing at age 3. She trained at the Dance Academy of North Jersey (DANJ), studying under influential instructors like Jason Luks, Jaclyn Walsh, Angelica Stiskin, and Jennifer Savelli. At DANJ, she developed a passion for tap dance and musical theater, guided by Luks, while her modern and contemporary dance skills flourished under Walsh.

 

​After graduating from Sparta High School, Jaqi earned a BFA in Contemporary Performance Dance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying with esteemed faculty including Kurt Douglas, Brian McGinnis, and Jim Viera. She has performed works such as The Unsung (José Limón) and Shelter (JaWole Willa Jo Zollar).

Outside of her formal studies, Jaqi served as head choreographer and instructor for the "T" BoCo tap club, contributing to the production and choreography of SLYDE! and Tapped In! at the Berklee Performance Center. She was also a performer with DrumatiX, a creative percussion and tap dance company, where she gained her first professional experience. Jaqi continues to evolve as a choreographer, performer, and teacher, dedicated to expanding her artistic journey in the dance world.
