About Me

Jaqi Gendreau, born in Nashville, Tennessee and raised in Sparta, New Jersey, started dancing around the age of 3. She dedicated her formal dance education at the Dance Academy of North Jersey (DANJ), and trained with highly influential faculty such as Jason Luks, Jaclyn Walsh, Angelica Stiskn, Jennifer Savelli, Terk Waters, and Jimmy Stewart. Through her studies at DANJ, Jaqi grew a passion and love for tap dance and musical theater  through the influence of her instructor Jason Luks. Her expression of modern and contemporary dance grew through the mentorship of Jacyln Wlah, a previous member of KEIGWIN + COMPANY.

After graduating from Sparta High School, Jaqi continued her education as a Contemporary Performance Dance Major at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She will receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2024 and is currently training with Kurt Douglas, Brian McGinnis, Daniel Pelzig, Jim Viera, Ruka Hatua-Saar White, Dean Vollick, Denise Pons, Junichi Fukuda, Marrissa Parmenter, Alissa Cardone  and other highly acclaimed faculty.

Outside of her education, Jaqi, the head choreographer and instructor for the “T” BoCo tap club, recently produced and choreographed for the club’s third official show “SLYDE!” at the Berklee Performance Center. Through her process, she was able to collaborate with other tap dancers as well as a handful of BoCo and Berklee musicians. She is also a member and performer of DrumatiX, a creative percussion and tap dance company where she has learned to work in a professional setting and explore her practice of tap dance, body percussion and drumming.  Jaqi Gendreau is continuing her exploration and experience as a choreographer and collaborator. She hopes to bring a diverse and well established knowledge into her future career in dance, she seeks to further discover who she is as a performer, choreographer, teacher and overall creator.
